PA Act 67 Training for School Security Personnel

PAISBOA, in conjunction with Cardinal Point Security Group, will present PA Act 67 Training for School Security Personnel. This webinar will provide important information on Act 67, Pennsylvania’s school safety laws, specifically regarding the training and credentials required for school resource officers (SROs), school police officers (SPOs), and school security guards.

PA Act 67 of 2019 requires all Pennsylvania school security personnel, including school resource officers (SROs), school police officers (SPOs), and school security guards, to complete mandatory training in order to be armed within the scope of their employment. Under Act 67, school entities and non-public schools may only authorize school employees or contractors who meet the definition of “school security personnel” — SPOs, SROs, and school security guards — to carry firearms while performing their school duties.

Dr. Trudie Bennett holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Temple University. She began her career as a Pennsylvania teacher and progressed to Principal, Assistant Superintendent and then School Superintendent. She is an instructor in the Cardinal Point Act 67 Program and assists in curriculum design and development. Her interests are in the area of Trauma-Informed Care and the need for school personnel to understand adolescent brain development.

Cardinal Point Security Group is a Commonwealth-approved provider of this training. This webinar will help schools understand Act 67 and the training requirements.


Athletic and Multipurpose Flooring for the Education Market

Please join us as your PAISBOA Preferred Vendor Tarkett presents Athletic and Multipurpose Flooring for the Education MarketJeff Sackman, Northeast Regional Sales Manager for Tarkett Sports, will present an overview of industry standards and products available for multiple areas in a school or university setting that requires safe, high performing multipurpose and athletic flooring.

Jeff’s presentation will also introduce the ASTM F2772 indoor sports flooring certification and will give attendees insight into the questions you need to ask to ensure you're selecting the right floor for your particular space or function. He’ll review all available flooring product types on the market with notes on where each product can provide the best benefits to your needs. Jeff will also review best maintenance practices for new and older floors.

About Our Presenter: Jeff Sackman began his construction industry career in 2005 with an athletic flooring contracting company based out of Burlington, VT as their inside sales and marketing coordinator. Shortly thereafter, he was promoted to be the sales manager for the Upstate/Central/Western regions of New York. After five years with a narrow focus on athletic flooring, he expanded his knowledge by joining the Nickerson Corporation to represent their exclusive lines of furniture, fixtures and equipment to the public and private education market in Western New York. Jeff’s career came full circle in 2015 when he joined Tarkett’s indoor sport flooring department as the Northeast Regional Sales Manager where he oversees business activities in nine states.

Our Presenters: 

Carolyn Collins, VP, Development-Philadelphia: After spending 17 years as an employee benefits broker, Carolyn understood the value of AblePay for her clients and their employees right away. When a position became available, she didn’t hesitate to join the team in her current role as Vice President of Development for the Philadelphia market. As part of the AblePay Health team since 2018, Carolyn has successfully implemented AblePay Health with numerous area employers. She is a Board Member and past President of the local SHRM Chapter, Greater Valley Forge Human Resource Association (GVFHRA). She also serves on the board of The Tredyffrin Historic Preservation Trust. Carolyn graduated from Villanova University with a BS in Marketing, holds the Life, Health, and Accident Insurance License.

Ryan Werling, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing: Prior to assuming his current role at AblePay Health, Ryan was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Mack Defense (wholly-owned subsidiary of Mack Trucks, Inc.) and he also served as a member of the Mack Defense Board of Directors from 2014-2017. During his time as President, Ryan had responsibility for sales of Mack Trucks, Volvo Trucks, Volvo Construction Equipment, and Renault Trucks Defense portfolios to the United States Federal Government and ministerial level governments throughout the world. His leadership of sales, marketing, and business development activities resulted in increased sales and over $650 million in revenue for the company. In June of 2015, Mack Defense secured the largest defense contract since World War II for Mack Trucks, Inc. Ryan is a US Army veteran having served on US Army active duty from 1996-2008. Ryan is a veteran of the Iraq war with deployments in 2003 and 2011 and is now a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserve. His last assignment on active duty was as the Director of the White House Transportation Agency (Washington, D.C.) under the President George W. Bush administration. In this capacity, his organization was responsible for the ground transportation of the White House Staff and for support of Presidential trips and motorcades throughout the world. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal and the Combat Action Badge. He has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
